São Tomé and Príncipe Islands
São Tomé and Principe was discovered by the Portuguese in 1486. It is located in Gulf of Guinea, 300km East of Gabon, straddling the equator. It has an area of about 1001 sq km and a population of around 165,034 in year 2001. Capital is Sao Tome and other cities include Trindade, Santana, Porto Alegre, Santo Antonio.

Guinea-Bissau
Portuguese navigators arrived in Guinea-Bissau in 1446. It is located in the west coast of Africa. The total area covered is about 36,125 sq km and it has a population of around 1.3 million, up to 2001. The capital of Guinea is Bissau.
